Wood; 2012 'Roots' demonstrates three apsects of myself: mother, wife, nurturer. The tiered base models the hill where our house sits and serves as the foundation uopn which our children were raised. The ring represents the unity of marriage and parental guidance. It loosely encircles the branches providing a boundary while allowing for growth. Our three children are represented by three different species of trees that grow on our property that capture their personality characteristics.
Wood; 2012 The three branches represent my three children: Brooke, like the American Holly tree, is always full of life. Alyssa, like the Red Maple tree, is always giving and sweet. Ryan, like the Pin Oak tree, is protective and strong. Each one unique and special; nurtured and encouraged by parents who love them deeply.
Wood, glass, soil; 2013 Herman Maril Gallery, College Park, Maryland This piece demonstrates the life's deprivation of water. Reservoirs are barren and dry; life is suspended.
